Brew Lab 101 debuts upgraded patio area with cornhole, live entertainment

Shortly after Rio Rancho’s Brew Lab 101 opened its doors, it had to close due to the pandemic shutdown.

But when some of the pandemic restrictions were eased and outdoor patio seating was allowed, the Brew Lab 101 team quickly jumped into action. An area at the back of the property was used for outdoor seating, but now that portion of the patio is permanent and is labeled Area 101. His SE in Rio Rancho.

“When the pandemic hit, we were very clear that we needed a temporary patio up and running, and the state allowed it,” said Scott Salvas, owner of Brew Lab 101. explained. “We were able to clear out about 2,000 square feet of temporary patios so they were significantly more sustainable during the pandemic. And after using it for over a year and a half, it became clear that people were really enjoying this space and going ahead and making it a permanent facility.”

The recently opened permanent patio has a wall for privacy that is about 8 feet high. Brew Lab 101 has added lighting as well as artificial turf, cornhole and other games.

“It’s a nicer space now,” Salvas said. “We added a new concrete landing so we can have proper[Americans with Disabilities Act]access and space for the band. It really opens up to the public and is a great space for people to rent out for private parties. gives us the

Brew Lab 101’s experience is more than just a patio. The company’s cider his program is doing well, with cider making up 30% of his sales. That cider can also be found at guest taps at other locations such as Flix Brewhouse, High and Dry Brewing, Hollow Spirits Distillery, and Enchanted Circle Brewing Co.

“More people want[our cider]so we’re working to increase production so that we can keep up with some of the demand,” Salvas said. Things are going really well for us.It’s been a really great year.We’re looking forward to further growth and expanding our reach to production.We’ve got another in the Plaza (where Brew Lab 101 is located). Now that we have the suite, we have more room to expand our production area, which is our next big project.”

Brew Lab 101 has a lot to offer beer drinkers as well as cider lovers.

“We have 13 unique draft beers on tap, with different styles,” says Salvas. “[We]have light beers like Mexican Lager to Rudy Krauss Speed, slightly heavier Scotch Ales paired with hazy IPAs. We have a standard and one rotation, and the special one currently rotating on tap is Lavender Cider.”

New Mexico spirits are also offered in breweries and ciders, allowing you to enjoy mixed liquors.

“We make a variety of cider cocktails,” says Salvas. “Now we also sell spirits. It’s locally distilled, so we have a full spirits menu. And we have slushies. And we always have non-alcoholic slushy mixes that kids can drink or adults can spike with their favorite spirits.”

Patrons can also introduce boba pearls to their cocktails.

“This is kind of a fun new thing,” said Salvas. “Yeah, we decided to give it a try and see what people think. I’ve never seen anyone drink that much.”

Salvas describes Brew Lab 101 as a casual local hangout.

“It’s a very cold place,” Salvas said. “It’s a neighborhood, family-friendly type of brewery, so when you walk in, it’s a very relaxed environment. It’s scientifically decorated, and it’s kind of fun. It’s a scientific take on the science of brewing beer and cider.” You can see the brewery through the glass and watch some action through the large roll up garage door.You can walk inside and be on the patio or sit inside and enjoy the outside air. ”
