It's your business | New bar, grill unfolds in Danville | Entrepreneur

Danville has a new bar and grill on the 509 E. Main St.

Called Danville’s Main Street Bar & Grill, it’s co-located with the previous Main Street Bar & Grill, said owner David Hancock, who bought the building this April and slightly tweaked its previous name. ..

Hancock said he offers typical bar foods such as burgers, french fries and some appetizers, as well as butch pizzas and sandwiches such as turkey clubs, BLT and chicken salad. The menu also includes chef salads and side salads.

Inside, he said, the kitchen was remodeled, the cooler was updated, and some custom tables were created for the bar.

Hancock planned a soft launch last Friday.

Normal business hours are set from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm on Sundays, from 11:00 am to midnight Monday to Thursday, and from 11:00 am to 2:00 am on Fridays and Saturdays.

The Champaign-based Premier Cooperative will auction two of the 25 grain elevators in Bondville and Fisher on August 2.

Premier CEO Tim Hughes said these two elevators are smaller and older facilities.

He said farming was bigger and more agile, and the Bondville and Fisher sites weren’t built to handle semi-trailer trucks.

“Unfortunately, like many in small towns, they lose their customer base and viability,” Hughes said.

Premier, a farmer-owned cooperative in Illinois, was founded in 2009 by the integration of Fisher Farmers Grain and Cole and the Grand Prairie Coup.

The company said a new FedEx distribution center under construction on the eastern side of Danville is scheduled to open in October and employment is underway.

Tim Dudley, CEO of Vermilion Advantage, looks forward to the impact of this new employer in the community.

“This kind of project and investment in our town will bring people here,” he said.

Local manufacturers will be able to use FedEx to get their products faster from the community, he said, and hopes this work will attract more people to the Danville area.

The 217,000-square-foot facility, located in 3600 blocks of Borgen Drive, initially employs 100-150 people and could grow to 300 employees in a few years, Dudley said.

FedExGround spokesman David Westrick chose the site because it has easy access to major highways, is close to the customer’s distribution center, and has a strong local community workforce to hire employees. Said it was.

The company also plans to contract package pick-up and delivery services with locally hired service provider companies for drivers, helpers, managers and other positions, he said.

“FedEx Ground has signed a lease agreement at a new 217,000-square-foot distribution center in Borgen Drive, Danville, which is scheduled to go live in October,” said Westrick.

“The new facility has a mix of full-time and part-time team members, and jobs are underway at the new facility. Anyone interested can visit fedexgroundjobs.com, search for” Danville, “and get a job. You can find information about all available positions, including an overview, important jobs, and qualifications, “he said.

Home sales decline

Home sales in Champaign County fell 15.9 percent in June compared to previous June, according to a local National Association of Realtors member organization.

But the house sold faster. Compared to the 32 days of the Champaign County Real Estate Agents Association in June 2021, the average number of days in the market for homes sold last month was 19 days.

Year-to-date home sales have also fallen by 8.78 percent compared to the same month last year, according to the group.

The median home sales price in the Champaign County region for June was $ 210,000, up 13.5% from the median home sales price of $ 184,900 in June 2021.

The median reflects that half of sales are more and half are less.

Last month’s average home sales price was $ 251,604, up from $ 216,293 in June 2021.

As of July 19, there were 901 properties in the market in the Champaign County area, with 848 properties last month.

“The median and average home sales prices in the Champaign County region rose by double digits in June as housing competition continued in the market,” said Association President Stephanie Pratt.

“As the peak summer buying season ends and housing supply begins to improve slowly, home sales price growth should begin to slow by the end of summer.”

Meanwhile, first-time buyers are facing an affordable price crisis due to rising inflation and rising mortgage rates, she said.

According to Freddie Mac, the average 30-year fixed rate mortgage rate for the week leading up to July 14 was 5.51 percent, compared to 2.88 percent a year ago.
