Near the end of the seventh inning of the Field of Dreams game, a recreated animation of legendary Cubs broadcaster Harry Caillat led the crowd with a rendition of “Take Me Out To The Ballgame.”

“Baseball connects generations,” said Brad Seger, president of production and operations and executive producer at FOX Sports. “Everything about Field of Dreams takes some of our favorite aspects of baseball history and brings them to life in the modern age, whether it’s from the most iconic baseball movies of all time or the game of baseball itself. That’s it.”

Carey, who died in 1998, was an MLB broadcaster for over 50 years, including 16 seasons with the Cubs. He was known to perform the song enthusiastically while working for both White’s Sox and Cubs.

“This is a tribute to what makes baseball so iconic,” Zager said. I hope that the next generation will be able to understand and appreciate it by telling their children what it was like to hear him lead the song of the seven stretches at Wrigley Field. How much did it mean to you?”

Zager said he and the production team at FOX came up with the idea shortly after the first seven stretches of last year’s Field of Dreams game, making it a literally year-long project.

As soon as the Cubs were picked for the game, work began on “Project Ivy” (named after Wrigley Field’s Ivy), recreating Carey’s famous seven stretches.

“As soon as I heard it was the Cubs, I started thinking about what the right moments and personalities are for Field of Dreams, things that can only happen with the magic of Field of Dreams,” he said. .

said Michael Davies, senior vice president of field operations at FOX Sports. “As Brad said, the idea came in the eighth inning of last year’s game, and the search for the technology to make that idea possible began the next day.

“The hardest part is making sure the reenactment is as true to Harry Kellay and his legacy as technology allows. increase.”
