The number of applicants continues to increase year by year, and this year we had a record 53 applicants. Each applicant goes through a rigorous interview process with members of her Council of Leadership who are also alumni of Leadership Sarasota.

Sarasota’s WSLR has hired its first full-time station manager. Jesse Colemanand hiring Peter Gentile as a news coordinator.
Since its inception, WSLR, dialed 96.5 on FM, has been run by volunteers and part-time staff. In 2018, he took over the operations of the Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center. Community support has continued to grow over the years.
Coleman is a Florida native, born and raised in Palmetto and Bradenton. His first experience at Fogertyville was playing an open mic when the venue was in Bradenton. Coleman also played live on his WSLR with his band his Cassolette.
He spent 10 years in management positions at Whole Foods Market downtown. For the past two years, Coleman has been the manager of He Blumenberry Farms, a local organic farm in East Sarasota.
He started working as a station manager this summer and continued his education at the University of South Florida. The university pursues an interdisciplinary degree in the social sciences with a focus on political science, government and international affairs.
Gentiles take over Becca HadwenServed as station manager for two years. He has extensive journalism experience, including stints with The Charleston News and Courier, then St. John’s. Petersburg Times and Sarasota Herald Tribune. He owns and operates his own graphic design company.

Visit Sarasota County Hired Pete Harvey As a sports director Nate Sweetman I have moved to the Sports Division as the new Sports Marketing Coordinator.
Originally from New York, Harvey spent nearly 20 years in sports and resort arenas in Florida before living in the Buffalo, New York area for 15 years.
He is the Director of Sports Development for the Buffalo Niagara Sports Commission and played an integral role in starting the Sports Commission.
Sweetman has been employed as Communications and Public Relations Coordinator at Visit Sarasota County since 2021, but recently accepted a new role as Sports Marketing Coordinator.
He oversees the Sports Grant Program and the Florida Sports Foundation Grant Program to help bring sporting events to the best sports venues in Sarasota County.
Visit Sarasota County leads and supports the tourism industry in Sarasota County by providing programs and promotions to ensure continued growth in tourism and travel by visitors from around the world.

Hired by Halfacre Construction Co. of Lakewood Ranch Eric Graham As Director of Community and Business Diversity.
Graham has over 20 years of experience advocating for disadvantaged companies within Florida’s Fortune 100 companies. In his new role at Half Acre, he will directly oversee outreach to minorities, small businesses and local businesses, consult with schools and local government agencies, and develop and implement policies that expand business practices.
Most recently, Graham served as the Hillsborough County Public School’s Supplier Diversity Officer. While there, he created a record of outstanding service for Minority Small Local Business (MSLB) in Tampa Bay.
Graham attended the MUMA College of Business at the University of South Florida.

Christine HarrisonA home health executive of 30 years, has joined Youthful Aging Home Care as Executive Director to lead the next phase of the company’s growth and development in the expanding Sarasota market.
The announcement was made by the Founder and CEO of Youthful Aging. Nissy Koblitz, one of the pioneers of Suncoast concierge home care. Together, they will continue to lead the fields of customized home care and private home care.
Harrison holds a master’s degree in nursing and an MBA in healthcare. She graduated with honors from the University of Michigan and the University of Phoenix.
She is the former director of Munson Home Services, which manages four branches in 17 Michigan counties and provides long-term home care.
