For over 30 years, Sascha Stanger has traveled the world in search of delicious food. Now the longtime food importer is ready to share his experience with Sascha’s Gourmet Goods across Oak Creek, Loot County, and Colorado.
Sasha’s wife, Brooke Stanger, said, “It’s been his dream since we’ve been together for over 19 years.” It was great to actually see his dreams come true because it’s his passion is.”
Sascha’s Gourmet Goods invites the community to visit the store at 312 Myers Street behind the space station in Oak Creek on Saturday, August 27 from noon to 8 p.m.
“We will have lots of samples and lots of drinks,” said Sasha. “Our register will be open on the first day of the day.”
The grand opening will be the following week, August 31st, and will remain open until Monday, Labor Day.
Once the holiday weekend is over, Sascha says the store will shift to normal business hours, Wednesday through Saturday from 10am to 6pm.
The store is Sascha’s dream, but the couple keeps working another job to pay the bills. “The way food works is that it’s made somewhere else, usually in Europe. “We tend to get our food first, so a lot of what I have here is from this area. I can’t see it in . There are items I like and items that seem to work well.”
Sascha says he discovered many of the foods while traveling through Italy, Spain and Portugal as part of his job.
“What we do is import food from all over the world,” explained Sasha. “We hand-pick our food and work with small producers.

Sascha’s goal now is to educate consumers and introduce them to the many flavors he has loved over the years. He also plans to conduct tastings and demonstrations so that people can experience the food they find in his store.
Among the hundreds of unique items are French baguettes, Italian tomatoes, lady fingers, artichokes, pasta, and Portuguese olives and olive oil. There are vinegar, cookies, chocolate, chocolate-covered fruits and nuts, and even some of his CBD products.
Sascha says his customers can also find many homegrown products from Colorado.
Many of the groceries are displayed on antique furniture that belonged to Brooke’s mother.
The Stangers moved from Longmont to Oak Creek in the spring of 2021 after their mother passed away. Brooke says this wouldn’t be possible without his mother and believes Brooke is happy to come to this mountain community with Sasha so they can open a shop.

“I lost my mother-in-law, Brooke’s mom, about a year ago, but I inherited a lot of great things from her,” Sasha said. We kept a lot of them last year and in our house.”
Not only does the furniture fit perfectly into the old-world setting, but it also reminds the couple of the love and support that Brooke’s mother, Joyce Fullerton, has shared over the years.
As the couple move on to the next chapter in their lives, Brooke and Sasha are ready to share their passion for food.
“Not only do we want to serve Route County, but we also want to serve our summer visitors, people who want to come to Colorado and read about stagecoaches and learn about our area. says Sascha. “We want to be the company that draws people to Oak Creek. We want to be the destination.”
