Dotcom Session is an expansive digital installation reflecting key facets of Denny’s work, which explores the sustained influence of technology on global cultural and political development, with a particular focus on the tech industry. For this project, the artist selected 21 dotcom-era companies declared “dead” following the so-called dotcom crash of the early 2000s, with the aim of “resurrecting” their existence as it was. presents itself in a contemporary setting. By reviving these companies, Denny seeks to reassess their relevance in the context of Web3, driven by the resurgence in popularity today of the business models of many dead companies. In doing so, Denny highlights the cyclical nature of business strategies in the history of the tech industry.
Marco Brambilla, Director of Outernet Arts, said:
“The Outernet Arts program has at its heart the desire to create intimacy between viewer and artist while presenting works on an unprecedented scale using state-of-the-art technology.”

Each company received a number of new logos produced by text-to-image Artificial Intelligence, created in collaboration with Cosmographia, thus demonstrating the relationship between Web1 and Web3 through a visual manifestation of the “ghosts” and respective stories of these companies. These new logos, which take the form of NFTs, allow their holders to register an ENS subdomain and serve as “employees” of the revived company. The artist Guile Twardowski also designed a new bespoke logo for each company, based on the AI results. The first iteration of the project went live via the Folia.app online gallery.
