New Head Extreme racket.
We are pleased to welcome Head’s Auxetic Technology to their latest line of extreme racquets.
When Extreme Tour and Extreme MP launch on September 8th, Extreme Team and Extreme Team L will launch approximately a month later on October 6th. A racquet that improves feel while focusing on spin throughout the design.
“The Auxetic is designed to improve the feel of the racquet, producing a smooth, crisp response on every shot regardless of where it hits the string bed,” says Felix, Head Product Manager for North America. Schumann says.
The new Head Extreme Tennis Racquet adds fresh technology to the line.
The location of the technology at the bottom of the frame’s hoop is designed so that the carbon fiber yoke piece expands when pulled and contracts when squeezed. The greater the force applied, the greater the reaction of the technology. The idea is that, at ball impact, a large force is exerted on the yoke by the strings pulling the yoke towards the center of the racket. Applied in the most sensitive areas, the technology responds and allows for an even feel of the ball on the string.

The addition of Auxetic technology is new to the Extreme franchise, a line with a unique sub-technology tailored to its unique spin-enhancing properties.
“Each of our lines has different so-called sub-technologies to make each silo more unique,” says Schumann. “The strength of the Extreme line is the spin component. We created a specific spin shaft and spin grommet to improve the spin of the ball. The spin grommet allows for greater string movement and the addition of the sound grommet allows for power-friendly string movement and improved ball sound at impact.
The Extreme’s spin shaft design optimizes lateral stability with the goal of increasing spin potential on each shot.

The change to the Extreme franchise gives it a unique name within Head’s six major racquet franchises. “The Extreme line is a very spin-oriented and powerful line, and the Auxetic implementation gives it a more forgiving feel,” Schumann says.

The Extreme Tour weighs 10.8 ounces (305 grams) and has a 98 square inch head. Extreme MP, with a 100 square inch head he drops to 10.6 ounces (300 grams). Both have a 16×19 string pattern. The Team and Team L designs are lighter, reaching a head size of 105 square inches.
Aesthetically, Head introduces a variety of fresh colors to the world of tennis, and the Extreme update maintains that color momentum. Schumann says. That means the hoop section is lime green and the yoke and grips are pistachio colored. Graphical changes in the shaft highlight the Head Control Power Index and Extreme name.
The head athlete leader behind the HEAD Extreme line is Matteo Berrettini.
